GMAT exam not only been the choice of students who want to pursue their MBA abroad but students who are planning to do their MBA from India are also inclined towards writing GMAT over CAT due to the former having many advantages over later.
GMAT score is widely accepted across various Business schools in India besides Bank school abroad. Some of the top B schools in the country, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, Indian school of business Mohali, IIM’s for their PGPEX programs, Great Lakes Chennai, Great Lakes Gurgaon, SP JAIN, IMT and many others accept the score of GMAT for their management programs
Moreover, GMAT exam provides flexibility to candidates to write the exam round the year unlike to CAT which only occurs once a year. Also, GMAT score is valid for five years, where candidates can apply for the B School programs up to five years, wherein CAT is only valid for the academic session for which it is intended to. There are four sections in GMAT exam which are Analytical Writing, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative section and verbal section. Analytical Writing and Integrated reasoning are each of 30 mins and quantitative and verbal sections are each of 75 mins. The total exam duration is 3 hr 30 mins excluding two 8 mins break which one can take during the exam following specified sections.
Also, GMAT exam is designed in such a way so that candidates from all different background can prepare and write for the exam. However, CAT exam is more skewed towards candidates having mathematics or engineering background. It has been seen over years that option scorers at CAT are generally candidates from the engineering background but no such trend has been seen in the GMAT exam.
It is generally recommended to take some professional guidance from GMAT trainer or expert who has good number of years of experience of preparing students for GMAT as then it saves lot of efforts and time of candidates who are also working professionals besides preparing for the GMAT exam. The help of GMAT trainers or tutors also help candidates boosting up their scores as they also teach appropriate tools and techniques for solving questions at GMAT exam.
