Folks, you will see lot of questions from word problems at GMAT quantitative section. Moreover, those questions have traps in the language of the question as generally candidates either misinterpret the information or misread while going through the questions and GMAT exam setters often give you the answer choices which are based on common misinterpreted information. Hence it is very important that one should read the question carefully and read at the pace where they can take out notes simultaneously of important information including understanding clearly as what has been asked in the question, while reading so that one need not to go through the question again. Also there are certain common strategies which one should adopt while solving these questions for instance whenever there are names of many persons being involved in the question then instead of assuming x, or y or other variables it is better to assume the first letter of their names. For instance if the question is comparing the age or wealth of different person then to avoid the confusion as which letter belongs to which person, one should use the first letter of their names to avoid confusion.
Moreover, word problems at GMAT Quantitative Section are often lengthy hence one should read those questions with full focus and attention. Often the question will have lot of information which have nothing to do with the question being asked. So GMAT exam candidate should not get involved in the irrelevant information in the question but focus on the relevant and important information.
